IS it ok to use anti-freeze with a direct die cooling.
You should be fine with antifreeze. Just remember that the more you use the less effective the cooling system becomes.

I only used maybe 1 - 2 OZs in a 4 x 4 x 4 Res.
Good question.
I wouldn't think it would be required, as you're removing half of the battery effect problem. But on the other hand, a very small amount would keep the water from attacking the radiator or just leaving deposits on it.
Guess that's not really a solid answer, but it can tough being out on the bleeding edge sometimes.
What about using 30% water-wetter and 70% antifreeze?

and no water?
Diggr said the bleeding edge, not the "hacking at every vein in sight with a machete" edge

Antifreeze is a TERRIBLE conductor of heat! That mixture would be very bad.
My mistake, i ment to say the opposite. I sent an e-mail to swiftech about doing a review of one of their blocks. I accidently did the same mistake. I dont expect to hear from them again lol/

It shouldn't be a problem unless you used a coating that is dissolved by propylene glycol or whatever the antifreeze you are using is made of. Somebody posted a link to their site a while back, he had like 3 direct die machines going, and was using a pretty rich mix. Something like 1 to 2 freeze to water, if I remember right, but don't hold me to that.
Well I don't know if water wetter is safe in direct die or not.
But if you do end up using it, dont bother with anit-feeze at all, unless your trying for sub-zero temps
I am interested in the link jimmytp mentioned, if anyone can remember I would sure appreciate it. I am thinking of trying direct die cooling but need info! Thanks.
