I'm not sure if that is a 2.0 PCIe slot, but 1.0 works, just a tad slower. It should work though. I do see your ram being in the way a tad.

The card will fit if you have enough room in your case. RAM shouldn't be a problem either. The card has enough space underneath that area for the clips.

so i can use the 260 gtx even though if it's on a x1 slot?

Yep, it will fit in the black slot in the picture you originally posted. It will just run a little slower, like someone said.

you'll just have to remove the graphics card if you want to fiddle with your ram.

how much of a performance lost am i suppose to be expecting?

Quite a bit. I wouldn't settle for a x1 PCIe slot with a GTX260.

PCIe 1 or 2 won't make a difference with that MB. It is an AMD A64 MB and that alone is enough to bottleneck
a GTX260 to the point that PCI slot bandwidth won't make any difference.

thanks for the reply, i'm currently using an on board video(ati radeon express 200), compared to my current on board, will the gtx 260 actually be slower? and would it cause my cpu to work slower?

A GTX260 would be light years faster than your on-board GFX adapter. Not a contest would be a gross under statement.

I was talking about x1 as opposed to x16, not PCIe1.1 vs PCIe2.0. But as I look further I see I misinterpreted another post that had "x1" in it. I thought they were talking about PCIe lanes, not PCIe standards.
eXcalibur, get the 260. You won't regret it.

i ordered the gtx 260 core 216 yesterday from newegg since the priced dropped and it's now 160 after mir. i can't wait to get all my parts by next month so i won't bottle neck the card. will this system i'm building be enough?

uhhhhh.... GTX 260 is mean for PCIe 2.0 x16 not x1. I would not recommend even attempting to use the 260 on the first motherboard you mentioned.
But go for the new board. That one looks good.

yeah, i know it's rated for pcie 2.0 x 16, but i won't be getting the board untill near end of the month, so the x1 will have to do for now, not like it'll bust my card right?

So, the slot is only x1 after all?
Just to confirm, we are dealing w/ a PCIe2.0 x1 slot and not a PCIe1.1 x16 slot, correct?

i'm not sure weather if it's a 1.1 or 2.0, but on the mobo, it's labled PCIe x 1

Do you have a gfx card in there now?
You can try firing up CPU-Z and seeing what the max supported link width is. Should be on the 'Mainboard' tab.

i just got the gpu today and it fit on my mobo, going to try ocing it now

Run CPU-Z like I posted above, and let us know what the link width is please.
If you are indeed at only x1 link width then increasing the PCIe frequency in the BIOS (if you have that option) could help tremendously.

jason click the second link in the OP, the diagram labels the slot PCIe x1. So yeah, not very good for a graphics card but if he's getting a new mobo with a real electrical PCIe x16 slot then it doesn't matter.

Despite all of that its still a million times better than the onboard graphics could ever be so it was a good purchase at this point in time and it is only made better by the fact that the OP will be getting a more capable board in the future.
