nope, but make sure you don't ground out the motherboard...i.e. don't set it on a metal surface. Do that and keep pets/kids/drinks outta the stuff and you'll be fine.

For ATX powersupplies you will need a on/off switch.

is the switch a push button normally open, cant i just set the bios to start up after a power loss and turn it on by a power strip?

Ah, the dreaded double post.
Yes, the power switch is normally open. Close it to activate the system. If you know which two pins on your mobo are the pins used for the power switch, you can short them with anything. Piece of wire, jumper, whatever. But remember, it takes only a momentary connection to activate it. A prolonged connection tends to turn it back off.
