Considering grabbing another velociraptor at best buy the next time they go on sale. They're 220$ right now and that's almost acceptable price range for these drives. Newegg sells them at 230 OEM with free shipping. 220$ + tax for a retail drive is right on with what I'd pay. Only issue is, they're the older version. I have two of them already though, so it's what I'd want.

is it worth it to grab a third one (900GB total, raid 0)?

Edit: I like to keep all my installations on my main drive, so the more space hte merrier. The drive space increase is worth it to me, I'm just curious if I'd gain anything in transfer rates with a third drive. I'm at 480 burst in hdtach now. Intel matrix really livened these guys up. :)

Not sure on that one up to you I suppose. Is what I did awhile back with my 3 150 old Raptors and still use them for OS.

I've been a RE3 fan lately myself, all ready had the raptors I guess and started working on storage. Have bought 4 of those 1TB tanks and put em on my RAID card for storage if that's what your looking for. The bugger stay's flat lined at 400 in HD Tune when I test that array.

I'm sure a 3rd Velo would be nice too though. kinda wish I had three of those instead of the old ones I guess of course, hehe. These guys do fine though. They almost seem like too much space for 3 on an OS sometimes though I guess unless your not running any storage, I'm sure the performance is great with 3 and you cover both ends a bit that way.

Sounds for what your doing would be the thing to do though I'd say, you seem to have it pretty well thought out. I'll be an enabler hehe. 480 burst ? whats regular transfer, check out some of your array settings in Matrix, I do bursts of like 1600 or so thereabouts :)

Maybe the three I guess.

Just tested it again for grins and giggles got 2038, burst anyways :) Ooops that's HD Tune. HD Tach is 2396.
