View Full Version : What's up with my video card???

Hi,

I have a Geforce 2 pro card by MSI. A few days ago (maybe 3) I started noticing that the image in Quake 3 and Return to castle wolf got "shaky" when I would circle a specific point (any random specific point). It is like if I was staring at a tickle me Elmo and when I started circling it, Elmo would start to... "vibrate "!

It is a serious problem though, I have called the retailer who sold me the card and they told me to call MSI. I did and they told me told me to install the latest drivers... I already had the latest detonators for windows 98se. I also had downloaded the new Ali AGP drivers for my mobo. I have tried de-installing the drivers and reinstalling the stock one to see if there were any improvements... Sadly the situation didn't improve.

Do you guys know what might be causing these video card problems? Do you have any suggestions as to what I should do to get the card fixed/replaced (retailer or MSI)?

Thanks in advance for any help :)!

do the picture only shake in games?

It shakes in Quake 3 and RTCW, I get some weird "bullet-lag" in Max Payne and when my screens goes black to changes resolutions (i.e when loading Diablo 2) I get some horizontal white lines across my screens (even tho they just appear a fraction of a second).

The weird things about the "Elmoness" is that it follows me to lower resolutions (that is what really scares me  ).

EDIT : Yes the "Elmoness" is only present in games.

Can I RMA it even if I bought it about 3 months ago? (and it worked just fine until now?)

Shouldn't have a problem unless you've physically altered the card. (putting a better cooler on it, adding ram sinks, etc...)

When I visit the MSI site on the internet it says tha RMA's are for companies and not for end-users. The store I bought it from is responsible for my Replacement/refund/whatever. Hmmm, I sent them an E-Mail yesterday and I'm still without news...
