Aside from being both cheap and broke, I've never found myself wanting more than what onboard sound provides me. I'd probably change my tune if I used a good card, but that's for another time. Anyhow, looking for a decent headset for online gaming, and I'd say budget is $100 or less. I guess a list of my wants will be easier than a discussion:

-Don't need audiophile sound quality, but I don't want $10 walmart quality by any means.

-Wireless would be ideal, otherwise a LONG cord will be necessary. My couch is roughly 10 feet from my tower, so a 16' cord is probably the right length.

-Can't require an amp. Like I said, I'm cheap and broke ;)

What's unfortunate is that I've got a $20-30 pair of Panasonic RP-HT355's that I really like for gaming, but based on the distance from my tower and the lack of a desk, the headset combo of phones and mic is really the best way to go.

It sounds like what you want is a USB headset like the plantronics .750 headset. There are plenty of other USB options out there.

It actually doesn't matter if it's USB or not, I'm okay with the quality I get from my onboard audio. Not that I'm against a USB connection, just not necessary.
