Both of you should be running either the VMplayer/not-freds SMP client or the VMserver/Ubuntu client. A quad CPU should run 2 of these and will earn 4-6k PPD. An I7 should run 4 of these (assuming HT is turned on) and will earn 6-10k PPD. If you have any questions or problems setting them up, please start a new thread and let us know what problems you are having.

I posted before about not getting my folding up and running. well i was able to get my GTX295 to push 10-15k ppd.

i would like to also run my i7. what would be the best way to to advantage of all the cores and threads ?

i know my way around and not afraid to run VMware or unbuntu or what have you, just need some pointers on getting the best setup from the more experienced people here.

Thanks,

Adak

Joe, what's your RAM and OS again?

According to his other thread, he is running Vista x64.

Personally, I have had better luck running the VMserver/Ubuntu client than the VMplayer/not-freds client. But I am running XP x64. With 6GB of RAM, you should be able to assign 1024MB of RAM to each of your folding clients. I wouldn't recommend running with any less than that, or you risk getting out-of-memory errors.

Also, I would recommend that the first time you startup the actual folding client, you use the -configonly flag. This will startup the client and allow you to enter all of your configuration info without actually downloading any WU's. Once you have setup the configuration, restart the folding client with the -smp -verbosity 9 flags.
