I have a full tower with 2 92mm blow holes and 3 80mm inside the case also.
the 2 92mm blow inside the case while 2 80mm on top of the case suck air out like a chimmney. the other 80mm is located on the bottom of the case blowing on the pci slots.

i have a enermax 431 and a alpha pal 8045 blowing on the heatsink.
my temps are as follows
idle 39-41 load 45-48c

running at 1.85 v
3.62 io
ddr at 2.85
kr7a 143fsb = 1795 mhz
what should i do with these fans to make it cooler? some say that i should suck air out more than blow into the case?
what do you think

M&I,

I'm in the same boat as you are with the temperatures.

What is your case temperature being reported as on the TSYS1 thermistor? I'm reporting 22-23*C there with 42*C idle. Only using internal case fans though (3x80mm YSTech) and the same fan again on the heatsink (sucking).

This is a shot completely in the dark, but could it be possible that it's turbulence around the heatsink area. I can seem to feel a bit of washy air both under and to the right of the heatsink. And with my "thermometer-on-a-string" it there seems to be hot spots in those areas. I'm new to this so take it with a grain of salt.

BTW, what case are you using?

My Alpha PAL8045 took a couple of weeks before the temps dropped down to respectable. At first it idled at about 13C over ambient, then it dropped to about 9C over ambient. That's with only a 24CFM fan sucking on it. I'm overclocked now so my idle temps are back up to about 11C over ambient. With a full load it's 14C over ambient.

Right now I've got 180CFM blowing around in there and not enough heat's being sucked off the hs. So, my next mod is to put a better fan on my hs and reduce the other air flow and turbulance. The idea being to first get the heat off the hs and dissipated into the ambient air and then get the ambient exhausted. :)

Thought I'd link up two similiar threads about what might be the same issue.

right now my case is at 30c

should i change it so my delta is sucking air off the heatsink?
i have a enermax 431 with a 80mm fan underneith the psu so that is also blowing too on the heatsink.

All other combinations of ducting and fan directions hasn't worked as well as I have it now. My hs fan and my ps fans are exhausting and my intake fans are in the front. But if you're cooling at 30C why change anything? :)

Try adding more airflow and clearing EVERYTHING IN the case.

Like make the IDE cables disapear into the bays put some tubing around the PSU wires so basically you see nothing in the case but the mobo and the PCI slots etc.

I wonder if your dead spot in the case has changed try swapping the fans around.

Did you try turning the fan around in the Alpha?

I did do all you listed but i did not turn the fan around on the alpha.
maybe i should invest in a 80cfm delta fan
would be loud i guess but with all the fans running i would think it dampens the noise
