I am currently looking for a freeware program that is compatible with Vista 64-bit that will free up some fragmented memory.

Anyone have any good suggestions?

There is almost no access time to RAM anyway so why bother? Now that OS's segregate ram into protected areas, would a mem defragger even work?

data in ram is always highly fragmented, its stored at random and is always moved around as other apps release and request memory so the very thought of trying to defrag ram is nothing but silly. Now when it comes to vista and x64 all available ram is cached therefore permanantly locked by the os until an app requests it. If your looking for something that frees up available ram vista does that on it's own and in most cases does a good job of it.

Okay, that definitely answers my questions and then some :)

Thanks guys.

Tools for freeing up/defragging RAM was a big thing back when windows 9x was common. Now windows manages RAM a lot better and such tools aren't nessary.
