I’m having some over clocking problems on my new rig, I have a asus formula maximus 2 mobo, a intel l775 core 2 quad “q9450” running at 2.66ghz.
My memory is 4 gb of ddr2 ocz rated at 1200mhz. I would like to increase the speed of the processor up to 3.0 ghz or maybe even more if possible.

I understand the basics of over clocking and have done it before on my older rig. The trouble I am having is all the extra bios oc features on this asus mobo. When I go through and raise the fsb frequency manually and leave everything else on auto, there appears to be no change to the ghz rating in vista or in cpuz.

I have even tried the cpu level up function, and still no change. Hopefully I am just missing a setting. I cant seem to find the cpu multiplyer, though I am pretty sure that it is locked on this processor neways

Grasphics card – geforce 8800 gts- ko edition
Os- vista 64 bit.

sorry that was so long and thanks for the help in advance,

HI,

I have a ASUS P5K with Phoenix BIOS, when I change a setting for OC I go back to the main BIOS page and check the 'System Informaion' page to see the effect before I restart.

Does your BIOS have this setting?

And on the OC, to get it to 3 GHz I had to change the timing of the ram. All your ram is the same DDR2 OCZ 1200? I had DDR2 PC-6400 but three different brands, couldn't get it to be stable above 2.7 GHz so went with OCZ PC-6400 2 Gig modules, it is stable at 3.04 GHz and the heat factor went down also.

It runs a little over room temp, currently 79*F in the room, 82*F for the motherboard and 81*F for the processor (I live in Az and it is almost summer time, so 82*F in my office for most of the day, may have to cut back on the OC if the temp warning comes up - set for 96*F for the processor).

So check the timings, that may help.
