I want at least two ocz vertex drives in raid zero, but most likely it will be 4 or 5 30gb ocz vertex drives. I wanted to do pcie raid to remove sata 2 bottleneck, as well as not take the chance that onboard sata could fry my mobo using crazy ssd raid, like i was reading in ocz forums, using raid on ssd is risky as raid was made for conventional hdds. Im a noob and kinda lost, willing to spend about 300 but cheaper like 200 is better for me, I hope i don't have to, but even 500 is doable if need be.

Never heard anything bad about Areca's 1210. If you order today, you get a free 30GB OCZ SSD too. Don't think it's the same model, but you could always just sell the thing if you don't want it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816131003

1210's are very solid controllers for the price yeah, I've had one around a long time now and they are running my 4x1TB RE3's at the moment at 400 transfer flat across the board in HD Tune, HD Tach, and ATTO, and pretty much run em 24/7 on it.

They are supposed to handle the SSD's pretty well up to 3 I think for the money pretty well, if you don't want to shell out 700 bucks+ or so for a really high end RAID card with higher IOP's.

Takes a little bit of learning how to use the RAID card if you havent before and needs a PCI-e slot that might conflict with a high end vid card if your running SLI or something always a thing to consider.

I had to get a X-48 chipset MOBO to use it and my HD4870x2 together right, I had an ASUS P45 MOBO and they didn't play nice together :)
