I just rebuilt my comp with a new SOYO dragon+, 512 DDR, and Athlon 1600+.
For some reason now when i play Doom with the launcher that comes with the collectors edition, i have no mouse support.
Seems to be the same as the old win95 Doom launcher of days ago.
With my old setup (BX6 r2, 256 pc133, Celeron 533@800) the mouse worked great.
I even did a fresh win98 install with a regular PS/2 ball mouse but no luck.

I like the win95 launcher for when i am working on maps, I want to keep old school compatability.

Anyone have a fix?

I don't know why it wouldn't work with Win98 if it worked with Win95. I never used the Windows launcher with Doom myself. I just set up a special DOS session with the parameters tweaked (there are some options specific to mouse function).

I now use WinXP with its compatibility modes and they work fairly well. You can tune it back to any previous version of Windows you want. Still, there's no guarantee of success if your app is not well behaved.

BTW--what type of memory did you buy with your Dragon+?

I bought 2 sticks of Crucial 256meg DDR PC2100 before Xmas when it was $50 a pop.
Sad thing was that it was $40 the day before!
Seems its now $75.

I have it running at CAS 2.
I havent overclocked my system yet but seems most people get thiers running up to 160mhz with lower timings.

As far as Doom goes, I was running it with win98 but the launcher itself is called Doom 95.
I use Doom CAD editor for making maps, its a Windows based editor.

Just solved my Doom95 mouse problem.
I unistalled the Doom collectors edition and intalled my old Doom and Doom II.
Now my mouse works.
Thing is all of them come with the same doom95.exe launcher.
There must be some updated .dll files on the collectors edition that are just incompatable with my new system.

 me happy now
