I have 4Gb of Corsair Dominator 1066 (2gb x 2) which are supposed to run at 5-5-5-15-22 2T 2.1 and are validated by Gigabyte to work with the GA-MA790X-UD4P Motherboard (Amd 790X chipset). Has anyone successfully ran the combination of this ram, motherboard, and a Phenom II processor stable.....I could run up to about 900 mhz stable at cas 4 timings but they would not work stock (1066) 2.1v and would crash OCCT within 1 minute. Even tried reseting entire computer to stock settings and setting EPP (extreme performance profile) to auto and EPP voltages to auto) Verified that It was not motherboard by replacing ram with both Patriot Viper 1066's and OCZ 800 Plats. that ran stress test fine at same settings. Im disgusted because I had ordered the dominators online thinking they were better than the Patriots and was going to return this weekend but now do not know what to do. If anyone has experienced the same problem and found a reasonable resolution (besides running them at 800 or loosening timings beyond what they are supposed to do stock) please let me know.

I may be stubborn but considering that when I was testing the corsairs for stability at 1066 I had my system In a non overclocked state and had selected EPP to automatically set timings and Voltage, I refuse to loosen timings (notice in post I said will not drop to 800mhz or loosen timings). Anyway I am typing on a computer that has a cpu overclocked 836mhz and with patriot memory at comparatable timings and voltages am 9 hours into occt stable and ran prime with same memory (patriot vipers) 14+ hours stable. Will probably send corsair mem back and keep vipers instead of doing what I had originally planned to do (keep corsair and send back patriot vipers)

On a side note I dont really think memory is "BAD" but that their is some type of compatibility issue between the corsair mem and my motherboard.

NOTE EVERYONE I AM TRYING TO GET THIS TO WORK AT STOCK...NOT SOME UNREALISTIC OVERCLOCKED STATE (1200MHZ)

Unrealistic for the 2x2 Gb sticks or for the 1066 Dominators in general? It's certainly not unrealistic for 2x1 Gb PC-6400CL4 Dominators - I've gotten them to 960 MHz @ 4-4-4-12 ...

dont feel bad, my dominators wont do 800mhz cas4 :(

but they go fast with cas5!

i havent tried my mushkins with cas4 tho.

I guess everyone has just missed what I have been saying.....After getting some short term stability out of this mem. at 900....I decided to see how memory would perform at stock. The memory at stock....not 900 cas 4, WHEN I MEAN STOCK I MEAN 1066 5-5-5-15-22 2T, will not run stable at 1066mhz. At corsairs website there is a thread http://www.asktheramguy.com/v3/showthread.php?p=399796 about this with same motherboard memory combo as mine and about 2 other guy had similar results....I wanted to know if among the members here if anyone had tried this combo and experienced the same results as me. I would like to find out wtf this wont work because my patriot ram (which many people have said include these forums in poll "who makes best memory" is an inferior product) works fine at stock timings and 1066, and I have only a few days left to either ups the corsair back, or take patriots back to fry's.

Also I have (4)...1 gb sticks of OCZ platinum Rev. 2 6400 c4, which will do and have done for almost a year 880mhz at 4-4-4-12-24 2t with 2.2v. These have EVP...extended voltage protection..which warranties them to 2.2 +/- .05volts, but they were putting out some major heat at that voltage and I thought since the dominators were more of an enthusiast part (guess like ocz reapers) that it was possible to run 900mzh cas 4. I dont pretend to know everything but judging by experience I thought it would be possible.

Only the 2x2GB kits because they are Powechips (and actually the new 2x1GB 8500 kits are also).

2x2GB Redlines and XPs are Powerchips also.

Nope, but 1100 cas5 is very realistic.
For AMD, the 2x2GB GSkill Pi Black 900s would be a great choice for 4-4-4 900 MHz.

Have you tried 2.2v and a couple of bumps in NB voltage?
Use a Refresh Cycle of 52.
My 4x1 set of C5DF won't do jack with 2.1v but will fly to the moon with 2.2v.
No problems at or above 1066.
I think that some have been mislabeled.

My CM2X2048 would BSOD sometimes when I play Dead Space and Farcry 2, Later on The problem got worse I can't even boot to windows Vista 64, even clean OSRI won't do install the Operating system. Finally decided to remove 1 of the sticks and problem disappeared. So I got a bad stick of RAM.
What's Interesting is that this stick progressively got worse.
FYI: I got a Gigabyte X38 DS5 mobo
