Free speach?

Ummmm, bottom line rules.

As a 'investor' said - ' i'm so glad they decided to drop this. ' Ya right, investor...

It wasn't the bottom line as in $$$$ or free spech either.

I never bought the "disrespecting the troops" argument.

That's like saying letting kids play with plastic toy soldiers is "disrespecting the troops."

I had more against the game because it was going to be a total failure. The technology does not yet exist to make a "realistic war game."

COD4 and COD5 both had their moments... but at no point in time did either of them come CLOSE to looking or feeling realistic.

And Konami just doesn't have the talent or the tech to have pulled it off.

At best they would've made an Iraq themed COD4 ripoff. At worse it would've been an Afghan-themed MGS4 ripoff.

The article doesn't really say, did Konami outright declare they were cancelling this based on content? If not, judging by the IGN link above, it probably got cancelled because it's a shoddy COD4 clone that would have gone directly to the bargain bin :)

Konami was just the publisher, it was being developed by Atomic whose track record is more boring than bad. Some of the Close Combat series were OK. Apparently they are looking for another publisher, though I'm sceptical as to whether they will find one.

Konami probably rejected it when they realised it didn't feature ninjas, talking clouds or pumping techno and it couldn't be played with a dance mat.
