Hi

Would like to know if this looks strange to you or is it my lack of knowledge!

Last April i bought some
Crucial Ballistix Tracer Memory 4 x 1GB DDR2 PC2-8500C5

Having problems with my pc blue screening I was checking some things and I ran Cpuz, but to my Amazement it reports my memory as
DDR2, PC2-6400 (400 MHz), 1024 MBytes

Here is Cpuz's Report

Is this Right or have i been sent the wrong memory?

Thanks

Check the memory tab and throw in a screenshot. If it says 400Mhz then it is only running at 800Mhz effective. No motherboard defaults to past 800Mhz for memory, so you need to set it manually into the BIOS, with timings either by enabling an XMP or memory profile or actually setting in the values.

Just to add to what badbonji suggested, you can disregard the Max Bandwidth - PC2-6400 result under the SPD tab in CPU-Z. What's of importance are the DRAM Frequency of 533 MHz, which is 1/2 of 1066 MHz - what the RAM is rated at, and the latency settings (5-7-7-24 as read on the 'memory' tab in CPU-Z). The SPD is programmed at: JEDEC standard 5-5-5-18 latency values at 800 MHz. So going by the CPU-Z dump you posted, the RAM is running at it's rated speed, albeit looser timings.
Multiplier x Bus speed 6.0 x 266.7 MHz
Rated Bus speed 1066.7 MHz

Chipset & Memory

Memory Type DDR2
Memory Size 4096 MBytes
Memory Frequency 533.3 MHz (1:2) <--- (= 1066 MHz effective DRAM Frequency)
CAS# Latency (tCL) 5.0 clocks
RAS# to CAS# (tRCD) 7 clocks
RAS# Precharge (tRP) 7 clocks
Cycle Time (tRAS) 24 clocks
Command Rate (CR) 2T

At your current FSB of 266 MHz w/ a 1:2 divider (266/1066 NB strap), this runs your RAM at an effective DRAM frequency of 1066 MHz.

Thanks thats good to know,

Of course that dump was done with my pc set to default settings due the the terrible blue screen of death.

trying to find out what is causing it to happen, thinking maybe its the memory but no sure! as am quite new to overclocking.

I am running at q6600 at 3.42mhz on a liquid cooled cpu this was my settings

Cpu Clock 9x
Cpu Host Freq 380

System memory multiplier 2.66D (1013)

in a word HELP!

If you feel the BSODs are RAM related (Vdimm, timings, vNB / vMCH, etc.), then run Memtest86+ to rule it out. What's the exact STOP error in the BSOD? Try increasing the FSB to 428 MHz and drop the multiplier to x8 for an effective 3.42 GHz. Change the NB strap to a 4:5 divider (266/667) for an effective 1070 MHz DRAM frequency, or 5:6 (333/800); 1027 MHz DRAM freq. with the four primary timings at...

Code:
CAS# Latency (tCL): 5.0 clocks
RAS# to CAS# (tRCD): 5 clocks
RAS# Precharge (tRP): 5 clocks
Cycle Time (tRAS): 15 clocks
Command Rate (CR) 2T

... and Vdimm at between 2.0 and 2.1v. Leave all sub-timings on AUTO except for REF to ACT Delay (tRFC); change from the current 68 to 54. Although this BIOS template is for the DQ6, it should be similar to the X48-DS4. Fill it out with all of your current settings at either 380 MHz x 9 or 428 MHz x 8...

A BCCode: 3b (STOP 0x3B = SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION) STOP error is normally graphics driver related (more so with ATI drivers than with nVidia). Check the Event Viewer logs for any critical errors related to the 0x3B STOP error (Start | Type event viewer in the Start Search field | Click on Event Viewer under 'Programs'). When you open Event Viewer and expand Critical, Application, or System logs - under "Windows Logs" (or look under "Summary of Administrative Events--> Event Type--> Critical)... double click the specific error so it opens in the Summary Page Events window. Next click on Copy--> Copy Details as Text in the RH pane, and paste the contents of the ClipBoard in this thread. Also post your model video card and drivers being used.

My Graphics card is a nvidia Geforce GTX 280 with Driver version : (178.24) or full id: 7.15.11.7824

also may have just found the problem (time will tell)
Ive just download a program called Driver Sweeper and this has shown me i still have ati drivers in my system despite Uninstalling them and started to get this problem not long after i installed my Nvidia so think this may be it .. will keep you posted.

These are the 5 errors that seam to keep repeating :
