View Full Version : 4890 softmod
There is a 4890 softmod around
I seen a few people using a Riva Tuner + modified cfg file.
Tried it on a MSI 4890 cant get it to work. Why
Ran 3dmark 06 twice scores around + 18000.
Scores the same as my 8800gt sli.
Did you add the 4890 deviceid to the rivatuner .cfg file as show in this thread here?

After that is done, you need to follow this guide linked below to the letter and you should see results.

Lemme know if you still can't get it to work with these links. I also have CCC uninstalled, I don't know if that makes a difference at all.

here is what was posted in the other thread i hope this helps ya man and as for the same score as the 4890's 3dmark06 has always gotten better scores with nvidia why dont you run vantage?
i ran 3dmark06 with dual 4870's and 90's and i got the same score but when i ran vantage they just blew the 4870's out of the water..
Unless you flash your cards bios to the Asus one so you can use their voltage tweak utility, Riva is the only other way I know of that works. Everything you need to do it is right in the link.

First, you need to get Riva to recognize your 4890s though. For this, just click below. Thank you Chinstrap.

And yes, I need to but am too engrossed with my gaming to care right now lol. These things SLAY all the games I put before it at these clocks. I hate Crysis so there will be none of that around here from me. But Far Cry 2 and Grid run flawlessly at max settings. FC2 gets over 60fps at 1920x1200 with everything on and 50-ish when I set the world on fire lol. Those who play know what I am talking about.
Thanks for info getting 2 missing items from Mad Shrimps.
Last ati card was 97 and 9800.
Get back
Thanks henzo for the vr-zone.com/articles.
Voltage tweak up and working.
CCC may have been stopping the mod.
ATI has some different colored colors.
See much or better stuff in 3d compered to Nv.

if it's a reference card, the softmod works.

i used voltage factory. take your time and read the instructions.
when you un-pack voltage factory there are step by step instructions in a readme file.

Lawl, I did that with my x2 and was getting mad till it dawned on me. :screwy:
These cards seem to hate heat or are set to shut down at a certain temp etc.
If my card is kept below 63c it run great @990 core.
Many posts at techPowerUp that say problems only on high stress games with @1000 core.
Sure would like to how these cards are on water or chiller.
What size WB will fit these card.

i have a mcw60 on my cards..but its not the temp on the cores that makes them unstable its the temp on the VRM's my core never goes over 45c even at 1020core with 1.37vcore under furmark load..but at that clock my vrm's are at 100c!!!! if i try to push the core higher or give it a little more voltage they go over 100c and the card starts artifacting
im going to buy some full cover waterblocks soon so i can get rid of this overheating problem...

Mine doesn't above 75c with air cooling and I dont have any problems, it has to be the MEMIO. That thing gets stupid hot.
