Can anyone tell me what form factor a Gateway a G6 350 case is?
I am putting this back together to give my niece and was thinking about changing mother boards. TIA,

Form factor refers to the size and electrical type of the motherboard the case will take, as well as the back-panel knockout size. ATX, AT, etc.

It's a good bet that it is one of those two- if the motherboard has more than 3 device slots of any kind(PCI, ISA...) it's probably an ATX. 3 or less, an AT or 'Baby' AT as they are sometimes called.

gateway could have a propietary (something like that) case also. meaning only boards built for them fit it. not sure though

Thanks for the replies, I am beggining to think it is either baby AT
or proprietary (sp) . I think I'll just leave the Gateway mobo in it.

Gateway typically uses OEM boards from ASUS and Trigem, and those two companies normally use baby AT or Flex ATX fro their OEM boards. Flex ATX is not a single set size, but baby AT boards will probably fit in there.

Basically, unless it is the weirdest Gateway ever, you should be able to fit a mini ATX in there with no problem. Full ATX may be cramped, but mini should be fine.

Confusing, huh?:) There's like a dozen different names for 3 basic types/sizes of motherboard. Why do they do stuff like that?:D
