Hey All,

Ok so I am setting up 2 old boxes in the garage for folding, as covered in my thread there. But I have a network delimma

My internet connection is via a wireless router at the other end of the house.
I thought I had two wireless cards but I only have 1.

Both PC's have wired NICs in them. I have passthrough cat5 cables and if necessary an old linksys befsr41 wired router.

Both are xp boxes, PC1 Is connected wirelessly...

Is there a way for PC2 to get on the internet through PC1?

Or do I have to go pickup a cheap wireless card..

Thanks

You can connect PC2 to PC1 with a crossover cable and share it internet connection. What OS are you running on the two.

Most modern NICs are auto-crossover. Try a standard cable before buying a new one.

Well,

I wasn't able to get it online with what I had and the cost for a cable was berely less than a cheap wireless adapter, so I bought an adapter and both are now online.

Cheers

Yeah, prefab ethernet cables are rip off at most places. Next time you're looking for ethernet cables, check monoprice.com; a crossover cable from them would probably cost you less than $5 shipped, and you'd get it in less than a week.. Or better yet, if your work has an IT department, ask someone there to build you one.
