Hi. This is my first post on this forum. I'm getting ready to build my home built. I'm retiring my Dell to kids games for my son. Here's what I have planned:
AMD XP 1800+
Shuttle AK31A
Millenium Glaciator II HSF
MSI GeForce 3 Ti200 64MB
Crucial 256M PC2100 DDR
Maxtor 40G 7200rpm HD
Floppy
Zip
DVD-ROM/CD-ROM

I need a case. I've been looking at the Antec SX635. I would really like to have a case with front USB ports so i can take advantage of the front USB connections on the Shuttle. Who knows when I might get a camera or something that I can use the front ports for? Does anybody know of a decent quality, quiet, easy breathing mid-tower case under $80? I was looking at the Ever Case but people on NewEgg report problems with the MoBo conflicting with drive space. I need 3-4 5.25, at least 2 external 3.5, and at least 2 internal 3.5 bays, and hopefully at least 350 watts. Like I said, I like the Antec, but it's just lacking the USB ports, and why have the feature on a MoBo if you can't use it?

Any Antec case, in my opinion, is excellent. I'm extremely biased when it comes to Antec though.

I actually own the Evercase case you're speaking of and it's a pretty good case. I don't see any drive problems and I've got an EPoX 8K7A+ in it with CDROM, hard drive, blah blah blah. I think it would be fine for your what you're planning on putting together there.

I'm sure by tomorrow you'll have plenty more suggestions but that's a decent case, especially if you want front USB.

Welcome to the forums, too! We're glad to have you along and you've come to the best place for help!

Antec cases are great as are Chenbros which are the same cases without an Antec PSU. Enlights midtower is great and I think fits what you want as well but I don't think it has front USB. Lian-Li has some great Aluminum midtowers with front usb but they cost an arm and half a leg.

eh?

the antecs are great if ur not wanting to blow a whole paycheck on one. i have the 1040, its a really phat case that comes with a good 400w antec PSU and 2 case fans, all 120$ from the cheapest store on pricewatch. the only case that i would say is better are the Lian-Li ones.

I too have the Antec. If the USB is a problem the AK 31 comes with additional USB headers. You can buy a USB hub that pops into one of the 5 1/4 drive bays. Now you will have 4 USB up front.
