Hi all,
can anyone tell me where I can get hold of a low-power water pump? I want to run it off solar cells, so I really do mean low-power.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Woobie

Solar cells are notoriously low power, but I have seen some arrays about the size of a small pizza box that claim to be able to trickle charge a car battery ...

Your best bet would be to look for a pump with a 12V DC motor and incorporate 12V motorcycle or lawn mower battery as a storage reserve. Select a series / parallel combination of solar cells to give say 14 to 20 volts in moderate sunlight and a current capacity exceeding that of the motor draw, probably need at least 0.5 Amps. To make it reliable, you will want a current and voltage regulator at both sides of the battery. On the other hand, maybe just find one of those solar car battery chargers and run the the pump off the battery and don't overclock in the dark! Good luck with that one!
