View Full Version : Radiator air-ducting case idea thingy...lol

Ok anyone whos seen my posts knows I love stupid ideas..

So here's one..

I have an old AT mini tower, unfortunately the cover got destroyed so my radiator basically sits on the tip of the chasis, and sucks air form under th raidaotr and blows it up.. (like koolance radiator, only I don't have an intake fan and my intake is on the bottom).

Igot to thinkin... cases are dirt cheap, and if I ever scrapped up some money for a project would it be plausible to take that case and -

Strip it down and cut out what I can, cut a hole in the top for the radiator to sit on, then mod anything I need to so that I can have a front intake fan at the bottom of the case, and have another fan inside the case to "reflect" the airflow (like a mirror angles light) to point it "up" at the bottom of the radiator.

after that I was thinking either have these possible combinations.

1 bottom fan pushing air and 1 pulling from the top - OR 2 from the top.

2 bottoms fans and 1 pulling out, or 2 bottom fans and 2 top fans pulling out.

Would this design at its basic form work ? which would work the best - and is this really a dumb idea at all, or is it something worth trying ??

I'm also looking for quietness too - so they would be decent CFM near silent fans - and maybe get some soundproofing material to put inside the case as well.

What do you guys think of my crazy **** ?

ne need for the fans pointing the air in the case, make sure the only way out for the air it through the rad (and psu) i put two fans on my rad, one ban blowing in at the fron and 2 fans blowing in at the back

Hmm, ok.

So basically what your saying is I could have maybe one intake at the bottom front of the case, and put something like duct take over any other air holes and stuff in the backside of the case, and then just have the fans on the radiator doing whatever they do.

Sounds like it would work nicely.
