I don't buy it, at all. 3D Realms wouldn't fake their own demise as some sort of PR ruse to pump up DNF. No way.

It is much, much more likely that the material coming out on DNF is a last ditch effort to attract an investor to fund the completion of the project. Why hold PR material for the game's release if that day may never come? I believe this is a way more plausible explanation for the leaked promo stuff.

The is the internet age. News moves quickly. Do I find it odd that someone registered a domain the very same day that news broke of 3D Realms demise? No! That smacks of either an opportunist looking to cash in on a domain name, or a fan of the series hoping DNF doesn't die. I don't think there's any reason to believe a conspiracy is at work.

I would like to believe they faked it that would be pretty amazing.

However I don't think so since they leaked screens.etc and just the overall event leading up to it. The game has been in development so long with such little work done on it. Sooner or later this had to happen.

I think if this still was a joke, it would be very surprising. But I don't think it would help sell the game because it would just increase everyones expectations.

Not to mention that a month previously (April 1st) would have been the time to pull a "stunt" like this.

With the economy as bad as it is and 3D Realms inability to deliver, can there be any doubt that the news was real?
