View Full Version : Removing the -oneunit flag
I avoid changing anything because that's when things go wrong:screwy:
Ok so I want to switch my SMP on the Q6600 to off so I can do Rosetta for a week or so.
I click my handy dandy SMPconfigonly shortcut and go to advanced and add the -oneunit flag.
Start it back up and it does a one unit...EU's on me!! Instantly!
Ok fine I'll install BOINC and deal with this later.
Problems installing BOINC !!OK fine I'll run fah SMP again and get back to this later after working on a different rig.
I go in cofigonly/advanced to remove the "-oneunit flag" and it says hit pause to remove, except it doesn't.
So now it is fah SMP folding again but with that -oneunit stuck in there.
I think I should have put the -oneunit in the normal startup shortcut after the SMP flag right?
I still need to get rid of that flag stuck in the advanced configonly shortcut.
Any help on this matter much appreciated:beer:
<< ROFL!! >>
Yeah, the -oneunit flag goes right after the -smp flag, on the first page of your shortcut's properties.
Let me work with this a sec.
Easiest way is to just delete that shortcut, noting where your target program first. Then go to that program file, and right click on it, and make a new shortcut and drag it to your desktop and add your -oneunit flag.

Highlight the -oneunit then press Delete key, then click "OK".

Yeah Tim, that's where he *should* have put the -oneunit flag - but he didn't!
I didn't explain it very good...it was stuck here, under additional "client parameters"but hitting the space key really did remove it.
I just had to do it a couple of times. I don't know why i didn't think to put it in the shortcut...Thanks A and Tim
Oh, as a side note on the 2nd install of Boinc it worked properly and I am folding on that now.
(Will I be banned for talking about Boinc here?):D

Yeah, the FAH police will be right on over, buddy! :D
You should be able to enter your parameters again, simply -smp -verbosity 9 will do, and the -oneunit flag will be overwritten.
Else use notetab (my preference) or notepad (dangerous if you delete the CR characters (little rectangle)) to edit client.cfg and delete -oneunit from the extra parameters line.

I have to try to remember that! It didn't occur to me to type another flag in there.
and of course everything can be found right there in the cfg
Another question tho....I was wondering if it mattered if there was a space at the beginning, I know its needed between flags.
Does it matter at the beginning? I thought maybe that caused the immediate EU.

I wondered that myself, when copy n' pasting "pete_scout" into a .cfg file(to avoid a mis-type); when starting the client in console the one I copy n' pasted looked O.K.

yes you need the space before the -
you don't need a leading space when entering flags in extra parameters. You do when entering them in the shortcut.
extra_parms=-verbosity 9 -forceasm -gpu 0
"E:\Program Files\FAH\FAH GPU1\Folding@home-Win32-GPU.exe" -config

The bad news: working nights has turned my brain into Jello™ thus impairing my ability to read posts accurately. :screwy:
The good news:
I got the touchpad driver working on my Everex(VIA based) laptop working!
