I have to change my Voodoo 3000 and I have the chance to get one of that cards at very low price. Which is better? Matrox uses Open GL or direct 3D?

Thanks.

Hmm I think the TNT2 would be better as the Matrox have such bad quality it's not even funny.

But I ask why going for such low quality cards?

For maybe 10-15 dollars more you can get something like a Radeon 32DDR.

Well, in terms of game performance, neither card will do you much good. Both are totally outdated, but Matrox has far superior image quality, though it may be slower than TNT2, I'm not sure.

Matrox has broken OGL. Still works but has a few quirks that shouldn't be there. DX is fine. The G550 is slower than the G400 MAX which was faster than the TNT2 Ultra. I reckon it would be faster than a TNT2 but slightly slower than a TNT2 Ultra. It would still be slow any way you look at it.

Still the G550 is superior in image quality to today's cards. Far better than any nVidia card. Don't believe me? Go look for the thread with people modding their cards for adaquate visual quality=)

TNT 2 costs me $30, it's not much.

I'd say TNT2 b/c of driver support from nvidia

It depends on which model of the TNT2 from Aopen you're looking at. Some models are horrible, while others perform pretty well. Post which one you're thinking of buying, and I'll check to see if we've benchmarked it here at work.
