I just bought a $7 special at a yard sale just so i don't kill my actual pc while trying my first overclock. My question is this:

I have a shuttle motherboard and a AMD K6-2 CPU running at 225Mhz default. In the CMOS options I have found that you can adjust the core CPU voltage. The voltage can be set at disabled, auto, 2.1V on up to 3.9V. I have it set at auto now, but if I raise the voltage to say 3.5V, will this "overclock" the CPU?

DON'T DO THAT!!!
I've already heard of somebody trying this high Vcore, his CPU fried very quickly! the vcore is for seting the operational voltage of the CPU, the higher u set will propably get u more stable at higher speeds but also will endanger ur CPU to being fried. I would suggest read through the begginers guide on the front page for more info, but what will overclock ur CPU is multiplier & what will overclock ur CPU + All ur system is the FSB.

You don't want to adjust the core voltage only if necessary. You have to find the multiplier for the cpu on the board. There should be a guide on the motherboard with jumper pins that says 1, 1.5 , 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 etc. Find out what the Frontside bus is running at probably 66 mhz. Or you can go to the beginners guides at the overclockers.com. Very good information.
