View Full Version : How bad will Seti lag old computers?
My dad has two K6-2 500's I was planning to put Seti on it but I would think maybe it would effect his computer would it? It sometimes effects mine.

The lag won't be noticed if he has more than 32 MB of RAM. My girlfriend is running the SETI screensaver all the time (with the graphics on, as she loves them) on her Pentium 133 and as she only use it to do some word and excel files, check the mail and surf she do not notice any lag.....(for the record she averages 100 h per WU) :)
Depends on what he's running and how much ram he has. I've noticed the biggest problem with Outlook. It doesn't get along well with Seti. It will hang once every 5-10 seconds while I'm trying to compose a message. Does this on every computer I've ever run. It's so annoying I just turn Seti off until I'm done. Most other programs run fine - unless maybe he's processing a large excel file or something with similar system demands.

Yodums Shouldn't be a problem for most applications, other than Outlook it seems. If he uses outlook he may find that very annoying.
Actually I tried to put it on his two computers one worked good one didn't.
The one working is the Win2K Pro w/ 320Ram.
The Win2K Server w/ 256 is really laggy as I guess he needs more ram since its a server comp.
