been looking at some benchmarks for the ATI HD 4890 and some GTX 285, and GTX 295

It showed that the HD Radeon 4890 OC'd to 1GB beat the GTX 285, so now im stuck on which card i should get, the 4890 is much cheaper than a gtx 285, and with two i can crossfire em. So, now im stuck, which one should i choose? if im gonna crossfire the 4890, i might as well triple crossfire because the card is alot less than the 285, so im stuck on which card(s) i should get.

Also, if anyone does OC a HD radeon 4890, what temps do you get?

Also...What would i need to OC a i7 920 so the 4890's wouldent bottleneck?

I would aim for around 3.0ghz. I would go with the ATi cards but only because they work better in CF or Trifire. Oh, and i dont like Nvidia LOL

go for the best money / perf value.
You'll get bored of the card in like 1 year, and willing to replace it.
So go either way, were you sped less money.

OC allways help BUT:
1) OCing CPU w/ single GPU chip / card, its going to help.
2) OCinf CPU w/ multi-GPU (2) , ITS A MUST DO, or you will get severe CPU bottenecks. Here you can go Duo or Quad. Less than 3.6GHz not recommended
3) OCing CPU w/ >2 GPUS its a MUST DO and you need quad cpu. Less than 3.6GHz not recommended

Otherwise, you will be allways under the possiblities of your system

Yes overclocking will help but really o/cing our GFX card is only good for benchmarking really. You can o/c if you want however but if you fry your card you viod your warranty just for a few more fps!

Best bang budget IF you can find them would be 2X 4770s. In crossfire they beat a 4890 for less money. Just finding them is the issue.

Why don't we compare oced 285 with oced 4890, instead of stock 285 with oced 4890? Not really apples to apples IMO.

these cards are monsters.. i couldnt care less about 400fps.. i lock it to my refresh rate anyways.. 60 fps. max in game settings, then go to nvcp and start turning stuff up in there.. 16xqaa.. yum. i am getting my zotac 285 repaired, so i will be running 285s in sli on i7 when it returns :)
