View Full Version : What is the best monitor in the world
I need a new monitor........if i am going to spend the $$$ might as well get the goods
I need a CRT 17"
i recommended this one already but i dont think it is the best monitor out there. anyway that is what id get if i had the money now. its a damn good monitor. i know the img quality is good but maybe the best would be this: max supported res 1600x1200, 75Hz!
this is how it looks like:

get a nice Sony CPD-G220S for around 300 bones, it's got some of the best image quality in 17" form, see details here:

i'm a big fan of viewsonic. a 17" or 19" viewsonic would be a good buy. sony displays are also high quality

i second on the sony, just check the hurtz, cause too low can hurt the eyes, trust me, my monitor goes max 60Hz, its 5 years old, my eyes are always sore and twitchy. Even if it cost a few extra bucks, your eyes wil thank you.
Cheers:beer:
I have owned numerous products by sony and i'll be if every product that i owned that had sony writen on it didn't crap out on and fast too. I know sony is good stuff but i think they are alergic to me........i have been looking at some of the hitachi, and toshiba although I have never owned anything by either brand i was told they are verry good too.
what is a good refresh rate?
I have an acer acerview76ie which i run @ 1024 X 768 @ 85hzt
this setting is supposed to be Flicker free.......i am behind this thing about 8-10 hours a day so yeah i agree i would like to keep my eyes in my head and not look like some kind of bug at the end of the day.....i would like to throw another criteria in into the mix I would also like to to be a true flat.....

hitachi monitors are ok, i'd stay away from toshiba though, never had any good experiences with them on anything they ever made. the nice thing about sony monitors is the warranty program, if you buy it new, the warranty is second to none other, they replace it free for 3 months, and then give loaners to owners for an additional 12 months beyond that while they fix yours. if/when you do get a true flat crt monitor, be aware that they do have two small thin lines about 1/3 and 2/3 down the screen, these are hairlike wires that hold the grid in place and are normal, after using them for a bit, you'll forget they're there, and only really see them on light colored backgrounds. viewsonic monitors are pretty good too, but the colors look a bit washed out to me, sony monitors have always been crisp and clear in my experiences, i own 2 of the 19" cpd-g400 monitors, have never failed me.

Here is a fairly good source for monitor reviews;

Another vote for Sony. Best image quality I've seen. I've got a MAG XJ700T with the Sony Trinitron tube. 16" viewable.

I got a 28" flatscreen TV that has amazing resolution for a TV. It has an S-Video input that I hooked up to with my Radeon 8500 and it's like having a good 28" monitor. And it only cost me a couple bucks over $300.
Plus I can watch TV on it if I absolutely want to :)
I also have the Sony CPD-G220S its so nice I just got it last week and Im so so so so happy I got it I love it so much...my roommate has the same one but an older model thats about 3 years old and its still looks as sharp as my new one. I would get the Sony CPD-G220S if I were you its a wonderful monitor!:D
