My PAL8045 finally arrived today, one day earlier than what UPS had predicted (Someone call Guinness!) and upon taking out the behemoth of a heatsink, I remembered not seeing a clip for it when I ordered. This was further confirmed when I found bolts instead of a clip.

My motherboard was made when they didn't have bolt down HSFs and waterblocks, so no holes around the socket.

This Alpha was going to be temporary cooling for my XP 1800+ (Getting the A7V333 when it comes out), and then replace it a few weeks later with a DD MAZE2-1 and have the Alpha handed down to my current system, so I can finally ditch this TT orb.

Is there anyway to mount the PAL8045 on a mobo without the holes? Or do I just have to find another mobo?

Ouch.

I think you are gonna need a new mobo soon.

BTW, I have that same motherboard, I think. Is that with the KT133 chipset?

Mine won't overclock very well at all.

Yeah i had a Abit KT7 ,and it didn't overclock at all by increasing the FSB. I mean it wouldn't even POST at 105 FSB. But that's why Thunderbirds are good becaue you can unlock the multiplier.

Oooo, thats gota suck, I dont think there will be any to use that heatsing with that mobo, unless you look verry close and there is no circut wiring around where the holes would be, then you could drill you'r own holes, but I'd highly dought there won't be circut printing, you could look though. Anyways, I have an ASUS A7V whth the KT133 pice of crud, and it will hit 110, but never 111, I wonder why it's so sensitive at exactly that speed, either way, I'v been told that I'm lucky to even get that fast.

Yep, KT133. I believe the multiplier is still locked on this T-bird, because the only way I was able to get it to OC was by pushing the FSB to 113, above that, it doesn't get in Windows without BSODing.
