people say that 1.6ghz from a AthlonXP 1600+ (1.4ghz) at 2.0v is a bad overclock. could it be possible that my power supply is straining? it reads 2.0v in the bios and in a HW monitor. on the system i have running on a 300w PSU:

-Burner
-CDROM
-HD
-108 CFM 120mm fan
-60mm fan at 7v
-Blue Orb (motherboard connection)
-the motherboard.

i'm running a watercooling setup and my temps are pretty good with ducting from outside. (Ducting Job here (http://www.geocities.com/s3xychinoy/ducting.jpg) )
Should i get a new PSU? say a 400w? or what do you think is hindering my overclock. my system specs are down in my sig if you need em. thanks

I would say that if your PSU is a quality one then 300W should be fine. I am running more stuff, almost twice as much, with a Sparkle 350W.

ya id recommend a quality 350 if not a decent 400, i am ok an a 300 watt but i usually run in the 1550 range at 1.80v so i dont need as much

i dont see no problem wih what you have. if you getting 1.6 stable id say everything iswell.i switched to a 400watt psu it does help . plus now its a extra and will run my pumps.and fans, leaving my 400 to run my cpu and cards, drives.heck i wouldnt complain if i could run at 1.6 with my setup!
only 1.5 stable in 3dmark
but i can run everything else at 1.57ghz
is why watercooling is on its way!
but in my opinion and what ive seen 1.6 is about tops for a 1600+
and when i add watercooling in 2 weeks im only expecting 1.6ghz max.

XPs are pretty much overclock rated, so 1.6 off a 1600+ is about what you should expect. People telling you it's bad are probably thinking to get tbird style overclocks off XPs, that's not going to happen.

get hold of a friends psu to test your system, if it ends up that you need a new one get it. if not it may be a bad chip, 2.00volts is quite alot for a 200Mhz overclock, oh, and there is the cooling thing as well
