Well, I sat down and played a bit more of F.E.A.R 2 yesterday. At first I wasn't too impressed but as I progressed it was pretty amazing. Id have to say im enjoying this game quite a bit. What did you guys think?
Oh and is there any other singleplayer games you guys can recommend me, I tend to like the deep singleplayer storylines, HL2, FEAR, COD4 was alright but got a bit boring for me after a lil while.
Thx.
Oh and I just had to film this with fraps, it was just too good to leave behind:
*Make sure you watch in HD.

If some of you haven't tried F.E.A.R 2 on the PC, your in for a treat.
I liked the Demo on PC but not the PS3.(Nice utube)
Waiting for a rock bottom price on Steam to purchase.

Same here. Steam will drop it to 20 bucks or less one weekend eventually.
I like it. So much better than the original in terms of "Story", graphics, sound and atmosphere.
The ending was a bit of a Wtf moment, but I really enjoyed it :D

I loved the game. Story was absolutely immaculate. I can't want for the 3rd (if they make it....and I'm sure they will).
One of my favorite FPS singleplayers, I need to play it again soon.
I was kinda meh when I first played it, perhaps I should play it again :p

It was terrible. The storyline was terrible, the gameplay was predictable, and basically laid itself out for you. On top of that, it non-canon'd the best chapter of the entire franchise: perseus mandate (which is quite frankly ten times better than this game ever was).
The only thing even slightly decent was the ending, which is something quite vivid for a game.
If you're impressed by this game, you might want to play the others because this game is terrible. :\
Also, I'm a huge FEAR fanatic, not just some easily annoyed player. I LOVED fear.

I played PM and really didn't care for it. 1 it was non-canon so I ignored most of the story, and 2 it came out a little late and the graphics were starting to get dated. It just seemed like the original fear with a mod of a few new maps and dumb teammates.
Extraction point was good....newly implemented weapons and honestly, I didn't expect most of what happened in the game...to happen....
Fear 2 was what I expected of the series....not just a "omg what will jump out of the shadows at me" but a "omg, what they are doing in the game is really scary"

Really? I didn't feel that at all. And extraction point was a get from point a to point b and shoot stuff. Zero character development, zero anything for that matter. Also, it's non-canon. Only FEAR happened, according to FEAR 2.

I liked FEAR1. FEAR2 I thought was fine, those other fear games/expansions I never really got into but I knew a friend who liked them.
Some people say FEAR2 has simular graphics to FEAR1 that's a complete lie. I installed FEAR1 not long ago and It looked pretty crappy. FEAR2 I thought looked pretty darn good in all high details.
So far im enjoying it, I do admit some of it can be boring and the storyline kinda sucks at first but its starting to pick up and im liking it.

Looking at a game based on detail frustrates me. :\

I'm not judging it on graphics, I just made a statement. As I said Im starting to get into the story line of fear2.
For me I determine good games on this type scale:
35% Graphics
15% Control/Feeling
20% Fun
30% Story/Game Appeal
= 100%

I thought I read that only PM was considered non-canon, that Extraction happened but basically had no link to FEAR 2.

Nothing is canon except the game THEY made. FEAR 1 good, FEAR 2 bad. FEAR 3 might be worst. :(

I loved the graphics and it really felt like I was immersed more in the game than the first one. For me its mainly about the graphics and gameplay. If it doesn't look good and isn't fun to play I don't even care about the story :)

See: Gothic Series. Supposedly great story, but the controls and graphics are abyssmal.

How much is FEAR2 anyway?
FEAR 2 was a pretty lazy console port. No 4:3, 5:4, or 16:10 support, less physics than the original game, practically no save option beyond the Autosave checkpoint style, worse shadows than the first one (practically no dynamic shadows), the devs refuse to release any type of anticheat, dedicated server, or SDK files so the multiplayer of the game was stillborn upon release. I loved the first FEAR, but the sequel was just console-port trash.

Thank you. I'm glad somebody realized it was a crappy game. Of the games i've gotten and played in the last 6 months since I got my GTX 260, only Mirror's Edge, Assassin's Creed, Tower Defense and World of Goo have truly entertained me and made me smile. To see people talking about this game like it was good saddens me...
After all, we're not the every-day gamers, we're the hardcore gamers, the ones that spent 1000$-2000$ on a gaming rig, should we expect games that we could have played on the Xbox 360 and missed nothing? I understand Assassin's Creed was 360 too, but dammit that game was NICE.
If you want a good game from the most recent salvo of games, Mirror's Edge is 19.99 on steam and frakkin' abuses physX, so nVidia owners should buy it on that principle alone.

Story sucked me right in and even though I'm an FPS player the third-person combat felt great.
FEAR 2 was fun while it lasted but not an entirely memorable game (except for the ending!). The gunfights were the strong point of the original and they kept that essence in the sequel, it's just a pity they didn't innovate more because it comes off as a re-hash.
Single player was great bur the multi was a sham. I was really in to the original FEAR multiplayer and really looked forward to the second game so I was pretty ****ed when I realized it was worthless. I still stand by the single player mode though. Pretty damn good.
