some please help me. occasionally, when i go to start up my system, the monitor wont come on and everything stops responding. not even the power or reset bottons. the only way to shut down the system is to pull the plug from the back of the system. i then have to unplug the monitor cable and turn off the monitor for 15-30 minutes. it all started after i installed my new motherboard. i still havent installed all of the drivers because my computer dosent recognize the windows cd as windows second edition, but as windows special edition. i dont know if its the ram or something else. my system is running extremely cool, but that probably isnt it. someone please help me
did u just jack everything from the old MB system, like HD, OS and all into your new MB?and are running like that, cause thats what I think I hear, with the: "i still havent installed all of the drivers because my computer dosent recognize the windows cd as windows second edition, but as windows special edition"?

hold the power button for 4 seconds...that should turn it off. Do you have a switch on the back of the power supply?
Honestly, sounds like a heat issue....quiet possibly a bad mount of your hsf on the cpu?
you may also want to cut the system down to the bare minimum. A hard drive and CD Rom plugged in.....vid card only as well as ONE stick of memory and the cpu....then try to boot up again.
May as well reseat everything as well. Take an erasure and clean the traces on the vid card and the memory.......check that the cpu is securely locked in as well as the hsf is mounted well.
Windows SE is second edition. You can always copy the entire win98 folder from your CD to your hard drive and reinstall directly from hard disk with your CPU at stock speed
