I need some ideas all I'm thinking about a 1G morgan ~60bucks shipped or a 1G tbird ~80bucks shipped both will be crap shots as far as steppings go so nothing is guaranted.

the tbird should be better. you gotta consider the whole picture. if your buy a motherboard ram and all of the other stuff then $20 is nothing.

and i think the tbird folds slightly faster. not sure.

hmm i stick with intel so i'm not so sure. dont most 1 gig tbirds get to 1.33? the cpu database seems to show the tbirds getting better overclocks. theres about a billion tbird 1 gig entries and about 6 duron 1 gig chips.

Forget about the 1g tbird. 1700 XP's are 105 on pricewatch now. That's about 115 shipped. Consider that this processor has about 50% more MHz than the tbird and will cost about 50% more. When you include the ~15% in structural enhancements, this bad boy is far better in bang/buck than the tbird.

and i think the tbird folds slightly faster. not sure. t bird don't fold any faster than duron at same speed. duron 1000
and up based on morgan core so it would run a lot cooler than
t bird. about the only thing that is going to increase your folding times is a fast cpu.I would get the fastest cpu board will support
or could afford

I've got an 1800+, and this thing pounds out the WU's!

I had the XP, and a P/// 700@ 950ish Folding, and these two rigs alone had me in the top 30 on the team for a while...

(the P/// is offline temporarily, and is slated to be replaced in the next week or two by a 1.4 T-Bird rig...:D )

Go for an XP, if you can swing the $$, if not, the T-bird over the Duron, hands down.

I agree but you guys that are running on a kt 133 morgan would be a better choice limited to no more than fsb of 110 and 13x
multiplier

You can always get a B-Type Athlon (200 FSB).

I've seen some TBird/Morgan comparisons where the Morgan benchies beat the Bird - but thats mostly with large files that dont fit in the TBird's cache. (like media encoding) Folding should go faster with a Bird.

And an XP beats both.

more $$$$ but would give 14x

If the stepping would be POSes, then I dunno what about u, but I wouldn't switch nothing, cause the Durons won't get too far from urs, and the 1Gig Tbird won't fold faster... so I guess go for T-bird will prolly OC higher than ur Duron...

no no need a new board for this chip (Tbird 1400 266 AYHJA Y) can't
overclock on kt133 board. should be able to get 1.2 duron to max out board plus run cooler than a t bird. waiting on suttle ak35gtr
to come out that and hsf is all I need to get 2 systems folding. have duron 800 I could put in old board but would like to get as much out of the a7v as I can
