Although the GF2 don't get really that hot as alot of them came wit just heatsinks you should replace your GPU cooler with something more overclocking like a Crystal Orb as I believe the pins will fit your board perfectly and ramsinks to cool it.

Usually it is most likely you'll never fry a video card on overclock :D

But you'll know you hit the max when you overclocked it too high and it starts freezing etc.

is there a level that I could shoot for the core is set at 250 and memory at 440 at 47 degrees C

you have only to be careful.
the most usual symptoms for the core is the artifacts and for the memory r distorted colors in the effects where the memory is most important, they r fog, reflections and things like this.
raise the frequecies at low steps of only a few MHz and make tests with a video bench utility or any intensive 3d application between the new frequencies.
computer can also lock up but this is something that will mostly happen when youre too far away of the limit. this means that if the system start to lock up youll better test the frequencies using some other application to check if thats not already too high.
this is something i beleive is important since i got distorted colors playing need for speed PU and got nothing unusual in 3dmark. so if its possible, use more than one application to test the frequencies. thats only to be careful. ;)

Once I start to OC what do I do when it locks how do I get it back down the default settings for this vid is 200/400 it ran 3dmark fine at this setting what other game or program is good for finding out if you've gone over to the other side

what tweaker r you using trainwreck?
it will always have an option to apply the new frequencies at start up. its good not to check this option till you get the definitive freqs. when you not check the startup option the system will restore the stock freqs everytime it starts up.

btw i found out nfsPU to be a good test when overclocking. for me it was better than 3dmark.

just use the coolbits reghack. You can pick it up pretty much anywhere, just search for coolbits on google. I think you can get it at www.guru3d.com also. I have found that this is the most stable method, and provides slightly better results than most "tweaker" programs. You can choose whether apply the settings at startup or not here too.

i would personally not to use the cards manufacter program too. if youre going to look for the coolbits strings why not to try a good tweak utility like rivatuner or nvmax. you would have several more options to tweak your video card driver settings.

I have a Leadtek WInfast GF2 Pro 64, 200/400 stock, i put a Blue Orb on it and normally run at 230/465, adbn 250/465 for testing. But 465 is teh MAX i can ever get my mem no matter what ive tried. Maybe shoot for like 230-245/465 or so

check the scores between each step-up as well...I found that on my GF2 the best 3Dmark score was not at the highest overclock i was able to achieve

Aim for a 10% overclock as your goal, and with good cooling you may get even higher. Try different tweaker programs and see which ones work best. It helps to restart between benchmarks. Use +5Mhz steps. Back down if you get a lock-up or artifacts (little sparkles). Compare benchmark scores as the higest setting may not always give the best score due to minor instabilities. Once you've found the benchmark's limit, try playing some games for a few hours to make sure its stable.

Disable V-sync for benchmarking.

i personally prefer to use the nvidia reference drivers and my tweaker choice is rivatuner. this one will mostly be a personal choice but the drivers you can try out a few different ones and keep the one that will work better with your system.
