Hi everyone! Im new at all this.

This is what I have:

Abit KR7A Non Raid
Athlon XP 1700+ CPU
2 Sticks of Crucial 256mb
ATI 64mb DDR Graphics Card
Maxtor 40gig 7200 Drive
Thermaltake Volcano 7 Heatsink
1030 Antec Case with 2 Intake, and 2 Exhaust fans 37CMF each.
350Watt Enermax Psu
Windows XP Home

I am runing my AMD 1700 at 150 fsb x 11 at 1650

I had to increase my Core Voltage to 1.85
I had to increase my Ram voltage to 2.75
My I/O voltage is still at 3.50

Using Winbond Hardware Doctor that came with my KR7A these are my current temps and voltage:

System 22C
Idle 43C
Full load 50C

Vcore 1.89
Vio 3.52
+5v 4.86
+12v 12.41
AGP 1.52
DDR 2.8
VSB 4.99
Vbat 3.20

Update: #2

After fiddling with the speed sensor on my Volcano I finally got it reconnected to run at 4900-5000 rpms (20mins of twisting very small wires)

I bought 2 rounded cables (I wish they were cheaper)

I bought coils to clean up my wires, and neatly tucked and taped.

I bought a Fan bracket with 2 80mm fans blowing on my Video Card, NIC, and Sound Card. These uses the air in the case, no cutting and it fits perfectly over the cards.

I even made a cardboard ramp to aim my bottom front 80mm intake fan to push air up towards my cards instead of the bottom of the case. Same idea from the link at this main site for focusing airflow.

After all that these are the results.

all my votages are still the same Vcore 1.85, ddr 2.75, 150 fsb x 11, 1700+ running at 1650

Idle 39C
Full 45C

Update #3

Hello again.

This what i have changed:

I have Motherboard monitor 5 installed.

I turned one of my rear exhaust fans around to face it inward.
Using that inward fan I attached an airduct I made out of cardboard paper and duct tape to fit nicely over my volcano 7.
It looks like swirling seashell. Took me about 1hr to make it to fight right.

Immediately the Volcano 7 fan runs at a constant 5123 rpms.

I cut out all the factory grills, 2 rear, 2 front. No grills attached.

1700 xp 150 fsb x11, new temps:

Idle CPU 36C
Load 41C
System 22C

And i can now run my memory at is fastest speed.

Sandra 2002 scores:

2267
2115

I am going to try and see if i can get my fsb higher.

Also, i tried WPcredit and it did drop me by 10 dregrees, but my Video was choppy and i had no sound. Anyone know whats up with that? I removed it.

I know i could go out and spend money to get it cooler but the whole point of overclocking is to save money right? Im going to continue tweaking with what i have to get it cooler.

Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forums and the addictive hobby known as overclocking!

Nice ducting and fan experimentation! What thermal paste are you using? Do you have the most recent bios and drivers for your motherboard? You could do a voltage mod to get a higher overclock.

Way out there advice... if it's cold this time of year where you live, you could use automotive ducting (with attention to filters and moisture prevention) to duct air from outside directly onto your cpu hsf or into your case. You could cut up the side panel of your case and add some fans there if you have room.

Have you tried modifying or overclocking your video card?

I suggest turning your front fan around.

Good idea

I turned the two rear ones as intakes now, and the 2 front as exhaust. Much better air flow now

I can now do 153 Fsb x 11

and my idle is at 36 C, with 41C full load
