overclocking??
ok, i never really thought about this, but i found out reciently that what os you are useing does have some effect of overclocking abilities. 1 story from just today was that i was testing the limits of my duron 800, and i had it close to 1 ghz, it was running fine, booted into linux with a temp of about 90 F ran it for a few hours like that, temps never went about 93 that i saw, so i thought it was fine, and then i needed to go into windows to do something quick, and i went to boot into windows not giveing a second thought to my clock speed because it was fine in linux, but when i tried to go into windows ME, it completely froze. it gave me nothing but errors when i tried to go into windows until i lowered the clock speed. i just thought it was alittle weird and wasn't sure if it was a windows ME thing, a duron thing or what? so i was just wondering based on your guy's expierences, what is the best os for overclocking?

my system specs are:
duron 800
soyo sy-k7v dragon plus w/ 256 crucial pc2100 ddr ram
3dfx voodoo blaster banshee
2 western dig drives, 45 gig, 15 gig
duel nic's in parellel (3com and via onboard)
onboard sound
phillips 8X4X32 cd-rw drive
duel boot between win ME, and mandrake 8.1

They're all the same really.

Just that NT Kernal maybe a little low since they require much more stablity to run other than 98 so there's are some who overclock better and worst.

best bet is to play around and see what you like best.

yes i would have to agree.. OS's are practically the same when it comes to "overclockability". Just really depends on ur own preference and what u plan to be doing on ur system. :burn:
