Well I read alot of the posted stuff here and yes I am to you all a
newbee, but really I have been working with computers way back
to the Vic-20 and before. But I'm a bit stumped here and would love to know if anyone out there ever overclockeda Dell Optiplex GXa? Mine is a 233 and has setting on the motherboard for up to a 333 mhz, but when I change the jumpers to any higher than 233 the computer just starts up but won't boot. Is there any way at all to boast this Pentium II 233 to a higher 333 mhz??? And while I'm asking questions on this computer, can this computer or
should I say motherboard with a slot 1 processer hold a 400mhz pentuim slot 1 processor??? I found one thing about Dell computers, they are there own computer. I also have a Dell Optiplex Pentium 200 GXi, and I have tried every regular DIMM memory module and no go, they told me that it requires a special
DIMM, is this true or is there a setting that can get this computer running with regular 133 DIMM's bought at your nearest computer outlet. This is not in no way related to overclocking I know, but since I am asking a question maybe someone out there has had this same computer and has resolved the same problem I am having. But the most important question I am asking is the overclocking of a Dell GXa 233 computer. Are they imposibble to overclock??? Thanks for any reply...

Welcome to the Forums...

Good news or bads news first? Ok how about the bad first... there is no good news:beer: Now the real bad... Oem computers (eg. Dell, Gateway, etc.) do NOT overclock well if at all... usually not at all. Sorry:(

:( Well this is the answer I thought, I overclocked several computers before and this I thought was a challange, but now
I know it was impossible. Well I still thank you RainMaQer for
your time and also for letting me forget that and go onto other things. Later there...

Save you some time and money on this Dell system, they are not overclock friendly. Just build another one when you feel you need to upgrade it.
