i have had watercooling for around a year and a half now and i have just noticed my pump has started to vibrate a lot and when i was looking around try to work out a way to stop it vibrating i noticed the base was very very hot almost too hot to touch is my pump on its way out or is it supose to be like that

they are known for getting hot, what is the pump sitting on?
might be on it's way out but not really sure. i would mount 4 rubber pads in the corners of the pump so there is airflow for the pump.

Could strap a heatsink to the pump with some thermal glop :D

Could be failing. It happens. What is your mounting method? They have melted on the bottom with no air flow, especially with the gel pack bottom.
I'd check the pump. Open it up. How often do you drain and refill and inspect? Liquid used? Liquid clear?
I'd guess that if it has begun to vibrate more than it used to, then it's time to break down the system and give it a good cleaning out. Some new tubing is probably due too (just because).
With the vibration being a new thing, there's probably algae/build-up/swarf of some sort that's throwing the impeller off balance, and that will make the pump work harder and cause heating above normal.
That's the first thing I'd check before purchasing a new one anyway....
