View Full Version : Pics (lots) of my dual loop build!

Thanks to everyone for all of your help! This has been a long time in the making. The case is painted in Dodge Demon Orange and Ferrari Black. My family builds Hot Rods so those colors came free to me and I think it turned out pretty good. The top of the case was cut to mount a Swiftech MCR 320 and a top grill cut out by a CNC machine.
Loop 1: MCP655 pump, XSPC RX360, Apogee GTZ
Loop 2: MCP655 pump, MCR 320 Rad, EK NorthBridge Block, MCW60 GPU block
-Both loops end at individual EK Res'
One question though, one of the pumps is giving off a slight hissing sound. Any ideas how to stop this? I took all the precautions to prime the pump so the bearings wouldn't over heat so I don't think it was damaged.

Very nice res mounting and I love the black tubing! :)

I see routing exoperiance and smart part mounting experiance. So your Hot Rod Skillz transferred very nicely! Great job, I',m sure your temps are perfect.
Give the noise a day or so, could it be a vibration issue tranferring to the case?

Working on show cars definately helped with running all the tubing. I'm fairly sure the whining is coming from the pump itself and not a transfered vibration, or something similar. I'm going to try turning the pump up to its fastest setting for a while to see if that helps.

looks great, well done indeed.
as for the noise, mine made one at full speed, but at setting 4 is quiet.

very nice rig man love the color...how did you get the hole done for the side panel ? any closeup pics of it?
GMdoubleG

The side panel comes that way from the manufacturer. You can buy the Silverstone TJ07 with or without the side panel window. Both choices come with the vented bottom openings which is why this case is so good for water cooling. I would recomend this case to everyone but it comes with a hefty price tag.

Yeah really liking the black hoses, rebuilding my system right now. Might have to go with black this time, looks good.

love the tj07 but u cant fit dual 120.3 rads at the bottom :( thats why i got the lian li V2000 going to put some 120.4's ;)

This isn't the same one from XS but that system is what gave me the idea for the dual EK Res'. The tubing is Tygon R-3400. I thought about the norprene tubing but I heard it was pretty soft and can kink easily with tight turns.
Petra's Tech Shop has both 3/8" and 1/2" Norprene tubing.

Maybe it's a contrast thing, but milky white tubing looks almost as sweet. ;)

Ooooooo, me likes the Orange/Black. Super nice build! ;)
Out of pure curiosity, what is the diff. between "normal" black and Ferrari black?
GMdoubleG
06-08-09, 02:42 PM
Well first, I used automotive paint from a mixing machine and sprayed it in a booth, so there is no "normal" black. Each car manufacturer has their own spin on what they think black should look like. Ferrari Black is one of the "darkest" black paints you can find so it contrasts well with a brighter orange such as Dodge Orange. However, Ferrari changes their colors slightly each year and I'm not sure which year mine came from.
If you are thinking about a custom paint scheme for a computer, I really suggest using an airbrush setup. An airbrush allows you to fully customize your paints beyond what aerosol cans can provide, however, it will be much more time consuming. I think I'll stop here because I can go on for hours about potential paint designs from powdered pearl in your clear to 3-dimensional paint schemes.
PS. Located the weird hissing sound in my computer and it was my graphics card. Nvidia 260gtx and 280gtx cards can have a hissing sound the first couple of weeks. Luckily, mine has already gone away.

I have a quick question how did you mount up the radiator?
Do you have any pics of the top radiator mounted up?
GMdoubleG
08-07-09, 04:23 PM
I mounted the radiator using the black grill on top. I cut the top of the case so the entire radiator could sit in the opening and attached the grill to the radiator with the fans in between. I don't have any pics of this specifically. Since the grill is only about 2mm thick, I used the same screws that came with the MCR320. The screws are threaded through the grill then through the fans and finally into the rad. Then I secured the grill to the case with four screws (the outer most screws that you can see in the pic above).

Oh yea, if you are doing this to your TJ07 you will need to design a 3/4" stand off so the radiator sits up higher in the opening of the case or it will not allow the MoBo tray to slide in. That is why it looks a little odd with the grill sitting up off the case.
Looks very sexy. Why did you put your Rom and other controlls down that low?

Ahhh ok because there is that weird space on the stock girll if you take the fans out
Thank you

His fill ports and rad barbs stick down and would conflict with the top two or three 5.25'' ports.

the radiator and lines are up near the top bays

Yea, the MCR320 sits so far forward that none of the drive bays could fit up top so I put HDDs up top. I agree that it looks off but it works.
Man that looks awesome what kinda temps you getting?

What do people do to mount the lower radiators?

TONYD-My temps are pretty good since I have a dedicated XSPC 320 rad for the Q9450. I'm still learning how to OC so I'm not sure how well it performs.
Ricflairw000 - I've seen people design right angle brackets to mount the rad but I was able to use a bottom mount designed to hold tachs in drag cars that my dad had laying around. Essentially, it is a screw that has a 2" diameter circle for the top. I used a 2 part welding liquid to attach the circle to the side of the rad and drilled two holes in the bottom of the TJ07. The screws attached to the rad slides through the drilled holes and I use lock tight nuts to secure it.
Are you looking to get a TJ07 for water cooling?

I actually just got a TJ07. I know what holders you are talking about I have some let me get a pic

I was thinking of bending some stock bar aluminum at a right angle and drilling some holds and making it mount off of the HD bay holder

Yep, mine are very similar. You are on the right track. I was about to offer you my case since I'm selling it. I have a horrible problem of losing interest in my custom builds shortly after I'm done and now I want to build a case similar to Navig's design. I already bought the 3/4" aluminum tubing.
