Here are the specs that gpu-z reports:

However, this site (http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=202&card2=441) seems to disagree, specs-wise, that it's the same as or similar to a stock 6800GT AGP. The card was new, sealed in its box, no actual brand on it, but the barcode sticker claims it is indeed a 6800GT.

Looks like a GS with memory clock cut by 175MHz, or if I was going to be paranoid, counterfeit LE or vanilla flashed to look similar to a GT.

IIRC, the 6800gt was a 16pipe/6vertex shader card. Pretty sure you have a 6800gs there.

Ok, riva tuner can unlock the other pipes and shaders. However that still doesn't explain the ram. If the shaders and pipes are unlockable, I could assume that at least the bios hasn't been flashed to make it look like a 6800?

6800GT had a 256-bit memory bus and 16 pipelines and 6 vertex shaders, it is not a 6800GT.

Out of interest did you buy this new from a reputable store? They should know the stockist and vendor they sourced it from.
