My brother and sister both have the same computer. They are both supposed to have 512mb, but it only reads as 368mb?

I was wondering is it's just reading wrong, or is it really only 368mb?

This computer is crazy slow, but the specs on it, it should at least be decent enough to play like WoW and that sort .. but they can't .. so I think it may be the RAM causing it to run so slow

Specs: 3.33Ghz Celeron D - 512mb ddr (supposedly) - 128mb Radeon Express

Any idea's?

It is because it's using system ram for the onboard graphics chip 128mb to be precise you can go into the BIOS and lower if you wish to 64mb or 32mb but it won't make a difference. As the CPU is handling it's own cycles, onboard sound (should it be using it) and acting as a GPU for graphics it has a lot of work to do.

And for WoW it would be painfully slow because of the specs it would run it on low settings, if you can I would get a another 512mb stick for both and try and find a PCI graphics card if they dont have AGP slots. You can get a Nvidia GeForce 6200 on PCI if I remember rightly thats if you do not wish to build a new system but it would speed up the system a little as it's own card would take off stress to the CPU.

That makes complete sense haha, I had no clue. Well it's not my system .. just thought I'd ask and figure out why it wasn't adding up haha

Thanks for the info!

A $40 PSU and $60 video card along with a $20 RAM upgrade would breath new life into the thing for cheap :)
