I'm working on overclocking my girlfriend's Ati Radeon 7200. I put a fan on it and got powerstrip. I'm just wondering if I should leave the core/memory clocks synchronized or do it asychronously. Oc'd nvidia before, but not Ati.

A friend of mine is gonna cut up a heatsink so I can put the pieces on the 8 memory chips. Should I use two long pieces that cover four of these chips each, or individual pieces. It seems to me the bigger, the better.

Anyone OC'd a 7200 before? What did you get it up to? This one is OEM. Default of 155/155 if I remember correctly.

The Radeons generally work best with synchronous core/memory speeds. However in saying that, when I had my original Radeon 64 I used to run it at 207/198 (couldn't get the memory higher - damn 6ns chips and I wanted better performance). No problems at all, but many do.

on my radeon SE I could take my core 35mhz past my ram...
no probs
doesn't do much, since core ends up waiting for ram anyway

I want only to add....

when you´ll be putting all heatsinks on memory, avoid using silver thermal pastes!!! If this thing drops on the chip´s ´legs´ , say goodbye to half of the video memory.

I put ramsinks on my GF2 Ti using ASII and superglue. Thanks for the warning, but I'm pretty methodical when it comes to working on hardware. No problems. Maybe I'll use ASIII instead of ASII.
