if i have an EVGA GTX 295, part number 017-P3-1293-AR, do i need to have that exact part number card to enable quad sli with two of them?

because apparently it was been discontinued and the only card card available (on ebay) is 017-p3-1294-ar

will these be able to use SLi together?

No, as long as the other one is a 295 also it will SLi. If one if them is factory overclocked, they will automatically downclock it to the lowest one.
