I just started working out of my home and my two printers died, rip.
I need to get a decent budget printer that must work with an external print server (parallel port) color is required and photo-quality would be nice but isn't mandatory. My budget for this is $150 without inks.
Suggestions, please!
Samsung, I love mine I have no idea how much was it though since my brother gave it to me.
Really fast and efficent and it does a good job printing. :D
I got the Samsung ML-4500, its on Ebay for 129.99 but I wouldn't know what the retail price would be heres a link:

I recomend Canon and Epson. Canon usually has a better price.

Alps MD 5000.......but that's a long story. =)
The HP printers are what I've always been impressed with. Quiet but not speed demons. Definitely put out some quality tho.

go with the HP's, Epson used to be the best for but not anymore
Bah color.
Go with HP, Canon or Epson.
I'd say go with HP first though.

I'll say you have to look at the spec.
HP, Epson, Cannon. They all have good quality and price.
but the thing that will get you is ink.
Doesn't matter which one u choose it will be good.
From my stand point HP is most reliable, Epson have best quality, Cannon have the overall performance.
Choose wisely.
U might want to pick out one printer from each Brand then check the price for ink. And check how much each cost. then calculate it by determine how much r u going to be printing.
EXAMPLE if you use up stack of paper in a month. let say 500 page.
then see how much would it cost u to print 500 page for each printer.
Hope this help.

Ok, here's what not to buy. I bought an Epson stylus Photo 790 when it came out for £130 which i thought was a bargain. At first i was amazed with the quality of the printouts, they looked like photos and it only cost £130! Only problem is it ALWAYS chews up the paper, the red paper out light comes on when there is plenty of paper, it has started refusing to print colour. I tried sending it back but they returned it saying there was nothing wrong with it! Total ****. Don't buy it.
