I've finally had the guts to max out my T-bird (see below).
It just kept going faster and faster, and I finally hit the freeze on windows point at 1496MHz @ stock voltage, air cooled (46C).
Holy cow, I thought the days of 50% overclock were long gone.

Granted it took a fan the size of a small saucepan, and noise that would attract environmental health, but flippin heck.

Supposing I should win any lotteries soon, I'm open to suggestions of how I can get it over 1.5GHz :)

If that is indeed a stable overclock, IE runs Prime95 Torture and 3DMK2K1 without failing, then be happy with it. Those remaining few Mhz you can squeeze out of it cost more and more the higher you go.

Just chasing a dream :)
I reckon everything is completely stable down at 1456. It works wonders with 3Dmark scores.

I reckon you got a long ways to go before you find the limit but like Hoot said it'll start to cost you more & more to get higher. Cooling will be your next project.

Yeah, you can start pouring on the voltage to get it higher but I doub't you'll hit much above 1550. Is 46C idle or load? if it's load, I'd say you've got a few degrees of overhead to work with.

I don't know about total king of steppings, my AVIA-Y 1ghz did a completely stable 61% overclock on 1.85 voltage but only after many months of tricks and tips I found on here. But that is one heck of an O/C!! Good job

I know I love my AXIA-Y 1 GHz chip... but I do feel something new coming on.... AGOGA 1600+???... supposed to be a good overclocker....

I hear ya! I'm just waiting for the new Shuttle! ;) 1600+ sounds good! I'll be looking for that stepping.

Sold the 1 gigger to a fellow overclocker and the 2000+ is fun to play with, I will soon un-lock it.

My poor 1g AXIA only blesses me with 1.3g at default voltage and temps near 50c. Maybe I should throw it in my KK266, would it do better than in my MSI KT266 board?

I am using a lapped Alpha PAl 6035?(been a while cant remember the model #)and a relatively quiet fan. Putting on my Delta has no effect.

Well,congrats on the 50% O/C!

It was indeed 46 under load, and idling at about 42. This small difference is due to the fact that a hurricane was shifting 1000s of cfm (and I mean that. This thing plugs into the mains all on its own and upsets the monitor if it sits within about 2 feet).

Perhaps the really funny part is that I'm only using the thermal pad that came with the heat sink. I reckon its going to need something stupendous to keep chilled. The real shame is that I can't afford to go all out. It's my one and only processor, and I have to use it for work. <sigh> Back to stock speed.

I don't recommend this if you’re trying to get lower temps.
