I realize this is most likely in the wrong subject, but it isn't really a problem, more of a...puzzle. Basically what i have loaded is the following:

Quicktime
vcool

Now, i installed qt last nite, and vcool this morning. I immediately removed it, because my optical mouse light went out (USB). The pc then rebooted. So, i restarted, deleted the vcool.sys file, deleted the vcool.exe, and temps were running at normal, no problem.

Then i tried to use mIRC v5.9. Now, this has been working fine on 2k. For some reason, however, i start using it, and either my keyboard lights will go out (keyboard stops working) and/or my optical mouse light goes out. Dunno, i'm completely stumped. If i let the pc idle, no software open (besides aim), the pc idles fine, all lights on, all input devices working fine.

any clues?

Some optical mice shut off the LED inside when they aren't being used. This may be normal. Does the mouse still work if the light goes out? Does the light come back on if you move the mouse?

What is vcool?

Vcool are those program which cool down your system at idle or something.

Well the main thing does your components work when the lights are off?

I wonder if the program added something like a startup file that will tell it to disable some stuff....

Hmmm.. Never install those idle programs.

Yep. Idle software is totally worthless anyways. Why would you want to lower your temp at idle? Is it that high at idle that you need this? If it is, you need to step back and take a look at your whole system setup, because if you need cooling software at idle you are going to fry your CPU and have stability problems at load.

It's a very good chance that this program is shutting things off that you need say....oh...USB threads sent to the CPU to keep your USB ports hot. If this is happening it will shut your mouse off.
