I just got my Raedon 8500 64 mb retail version and with 3dmark2001 i benched it.

My score was 6630.

Is this score normal for the 8500 or is it lower or higher, also its not overclocked. The rest of my specs are in my signature.

Thanks

What can I do to get a better score or to improve performace?

Should I run the benchmarks after a reboot with nothing open?

Have you updated you drivers? Else you can get new drivers here:
www.rage3d.com

Hope that helps.

www.omegacorner.com download the latest drivers.

Don't use the drivers from rage 3d as there not as fast or reliable.

That's a pretty low score. I got an OEM from newegg and with everything stock I got 8578. Running an Athlon XP 1700. with 512mb ddr.

are those unnoficial drivers as good as the ati ones?

I'm pretty sure the drivers I have are the newest (version: 6.13.10.3286). They aren't the digitally signed ones, but they work just fine for me. My score is 7482 and that's with my 1400@1607 and OEM Radeon 8500.

512 DDR would be your jump on that one :) I need some a' that *looks at his one stick of 256 with slight remorse* oh well.

Yes but they are not very good at all, I'll stick with the Omega's for now.

Not true at all. The Omega drivers are basically hacked versions of the official/beta drivers. In any case they are still not official drivers, and mixing old/new .dll files does not work well for everyone. So use at your own risk.

Whats not true?

I never said they were official, I said that they are much faster and more stable than any other 8500 drivers out there.

ASK ANYONE

So next time you try to rack up another post, think before typing.

if u want good bench socres get the leaked ones, if u have good game performance and loose 200-300 points in 3dmark 2001 then get the omega,

I guess ill try the omegas, i tried the ones from rage 3dand they werent good it brought my score down below 6000 which sucks if my other score was pretty low.

Ill try the omegas and see what my score is now

Also i should have all that trueform, smart shader ande smoothshader i thin there called enabled right?
