Is it possile to cool a water tank that made out of Plexi Glass by hooking the peltier to the side of the tank and puting a Heatsink on it? Thats the only other way I could think without puting the Pelt. right on the Cpu.. The tank would be no more then 5 Inch wide and 3 inchs tall & 6 inchs long.

yeah it's possible. there is an aritcle about it on the main page. my only question is, would it be better to make a seprate container for the waterchller, or put it in with the pump? My res is kinda cramped right now....

I wonder what the Wattage has to be for the peltier? Would a 79Watt one work? it would use 8 amps

anyone else know if this will work?

It would but might not make a big temp drop, it you wanted that a more powerful pelt, PSU would be required and it would go directly on your CPU.

Just make sure to cool the hot side of the Pelt else it will heat the water up.

I don't think adding an 80 watt peltier would make much of a difference. If you made a water chiller with multiple peltiers you would see a decent temperature dropp. If you want to lower your temps for cheep get some Arctic Silver 3 when it comes out later this month. I just did a review for AS3 and it was 1.8c lower than AS2.

Well the point of this whole thing is to not cause condensation... Now I know about needing a heatsink on the backside of the pelt..But would it still cause condensation..Is it just not cold enough to cause it? Theirfor will I be safe but I will still have lower temps then room temp right?

so i would need 2 or 3 peltiers to cool the water down? I don't need the tank to turn into Ice I just need the water temps around 40-55 F

Basically if it goes BELOW your ROOM temp then you will have condensation.

I would use one to see what temp drop you get but you might nedd 2 or 3, (then you owuld need a better PSU) try to get it to the room temp but not much lower.

I was thinking instead of getting 3 75Watt Pelts get one 170Watt one, but you would probably need to watercool just the pelt so I'd stick with your idea.

You can go below ambient but not below a wet bulb. It might drip on you.:D

Seriously you can read about wet bulbs here. (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&q=wet+bulb+)

Much easier to put a jug in a beer cooler and turn it to it's highest temp. Less noise and no power supply. you can buy them new at home depot or used all over.

I'm looking in my Jameco catalog..

Also summer s are hard..Because my room temps gets up to 92 F thats 33 C....

Also it says the Tec cools down to -30 C so thats -22 F Now I take it it wont get that cold with a Tank full of water.. I would gess maybe like 30 F at least but The tank is going to be 5 Inchs long and 6 inchs high..

And it has already been done. Check out this link:

Under Water Peltier Heatsink (http://www.overclockers.co.nz/ocnz/cooling/peltierheatsink/1.shtml)

The actually made a device that looks like some of the air chillers I have seen...a peltier with a heatsink on top and bottom. The hot side has the fan to disperse the heat from the peltier and the heatsink that is attached to the cold side goes directly into the water. Of course, the peltier is not submersed.

They ran 2 different tests with and without the radiator using an 80W peltier. It was successful - by combining the peltier with the radiator, the temp was brought down just below room temp. Without the radiator was comparable to the radiator without the peltier heatsink.

Thats how I want to cool it...But is their anyway to cover the whole thing up? because I don't want water gushing all over the place.. My Idea I had was to use some Epoxy and stick the Peltier on the side of the water tank..With a Hsf on top of that.... I'm sure it would not cool as cool as that one... But...it's has left me in a bit of a puzled state... because I know the water can't be at the peltier's level..And if i left it open like they did the water would be gone in like a week.. I need some kind of case encloser where I can seal it but still able to refill it...

Another thing...I know it really hard to say but.... I keep my room in the Winter around 75F 80F now if I where to run this the water temp would be like what 10F cooler then my room right? That would cause Condesation? And I guess summer would be worse because my room hits up to 95F and runing this would cause Condesation as well?
