Tran Micro, in Minneapolis, is an authorized dealer of Arctic Silver, but I think that they only have ASII so far...

The review states up to a 5C temp drop under full load on a Ti200!!!!

AS3 is really good stuff. I just reviewed some and it dropped my temps 1.8c from AS2.

Bender,

I've read all good reviews of AS3, I called them just a few minutes ago and asked when I could buy some.

I'll definitly be getting some tomorrow.

Bender's review on a 1.4Ghz Athlon can be found at http://www.daocplace.com/index.php?review=as3 The temperature drop isn't as dramatic as the Ti200, but it's still a very noticeable amount.

Well, now that I know it exists, and that it does a great job at helping cooling, I think I'll get some for my first computer I'm going to build...

I wonder just how big a diffrence adding the ASII to the ASIII makes... The first review said it should make a diffrence because of ASII's smaller particles. Something else to test I guess :)

Anybody else got a full container of ASII?

Mine is about half full, I have started to hate how messy it is...

I guess it is worth it, but I found a nice review here: http://www.hardocp.com/reviews/cooling/compound/

It made me think I wanted something less messy.

I don't know how can compair the review of AS3 on a video card since most people use this for CPUs. A geeforce GPU has way more surface area than an athlon which explains the greater difference in temperatures between thermal pastes. AS3 is really worth the money.

If your in the US and looking for Artic Silver 3 You can get it HERE (https://www.overclockershideout.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=o&Product_Code=AS3&Category_Code=TPE)

Actually the larger surface area of the GPU makes the thermal grease less critical. With this in mind, the test results are even more impressive.

It made me think I wanted something less messy. Since I put on my HSF after the sucessful bridging of them L1 bridges I have had no reason to reseat or reapply. I used it for the NB, GPU & Ramsinks mixed with metal epoxy with equal weights. It's in my little bag of tricks. Maybe I'll sell it for $1.00/application around my area. The shop here charges a $1.40 LOL. How long do you think before the rest of us in the world ge a hold of this & no I don't want to order 'cause shipping will cost more than the product.:(

When I try to order from here, it gives me an option of overseas shipping  I am not sure what's wrong because I am putting down Whitehall, OH as my shipping address :( Anyone know of anywhere else that has this yet? I can't seem to find any, and no, I am not paying 29$ to ship domestic USA :D

I will be doing a brief article with an A-B-C comparison of AS2, Arctic Alumina and AS3 in the next week or so, as measured with the on-die Thermal Diode in an Athlon XP.

Remember to allow settling time once you apply any kind of thermal compound. I can almost guarantee that if you apply the stuff, plop down the HSF and take an immediate reading that you will get a better reading after several hours of use. The warmer your setup and the more your fan vibrates your HSF, the faster it will settle in.

When you are at the checkout screen and it asks for your address etc..there is a pull down menu where you select your state and by default it says outside the US. You need to change it to your state and that should fix the problem.

What a ripoff! $3 for alumina an then $8 shipping at dangerden...

I'm waiting for svcompucycle to get it so it can be mailed in an envelope for $0.34. It costs about a buck to UPS it even in a small box... $8 is just insane ! Dangerden's a good vendor, but they NEED to offer a ****ing cheap shipping for the compounds and really small items!

is ACIII the same as Arctic Alumina?

GoldenTiger
01-25-02, 11:17 AM
No. I was remarking on how high their shipping charges were for a product of the exact same size/weight.

Goldentiger - Don't foget you need to buy a padded envelope, pay someone to do the invoice, packaging and take it to the Post Office. BTW, it will require at least two stamps.

Hmm. I am pretty sure I picked Ohio. Let me try again.

Edit:

I have Ohio picked but it still gives me 29$ for s/h. Guess I will have to try someone else.

Heh, I gave up and called em, not shipping till tuesday however :(
