I can either SLI an 8800GT 1Gb with a GTX285 1GB or sell the 8800GT and just have a single GTX 295 - which would be better ( baring in mind cost too )?

thanks :)
Cosmo.

Unless there have been major changes recently, you can only SLI same cards. Meaning you couldn't SLI a 8800GT with a GTX285. You could only SLI an 8800GT with an 8800GT or SLI a GTX285 with a GTX285. I'd say a single GTX285 personally, I'm not a fan of dual GPU cards.

You cannot sli different cards, the only thing you can do with two different cards is use one for physx (the lesser one). The GTX295 is only £100 extra in the UK (GTX285 costs £220-250) which made me get the 295 as the GTX285 sli is very expensive.

If you really want a GTX 295, you'd get performance (and save more money) with 2 GTX 275's. According to Tom's, you'd gain about 10-15% more FPS as opposed to a GTX 295 (which has two 275 cores inside)

nice idea - where would 2x GTX 260 come against a single GTX 285 or 295?

SLI'd GTX 260's would out-do a GTX 285, but not a GTX 295 (although it'll be decently close).
